#52weeknailchallenge: zig zag

For this prompt I checked out Pinterest, hoping for some inspiration. So I combined a couple of looks. Let me show you what I did.

I started with two coats of essence gossip girl on my thumb, index and pinky. On my ring finger I have two coats of OPI DS pewter and on my middle finger is two coats of essence pink dreams are made of this.
I then stamped the zig zag image from Lina feeling shapely 1 with Mundo de Unas light grey. I'm pretty happy that light grey matched so well to gossip girl.
I added a dot of pink dreams are made of this to all the nails with gossip girl. What do you think?

#52weeknailchallenge: dotticure

I slightly cheated on this one and didn't do a 'traditional' dotticure, but went with stamping instead. Maybe next year if it's still around...

Let me show you how I cheated. I started with two coats of essence what is this feeling? on my thumb, index and middle finger. On my ring finger and pinky I have two coats of essence creating memories and a coat of Sinful Colors holo back over that.
I then stamped an image from Lina feeling shapely 9 with Mundo de Unas copper, leaving it on my stamper. I then painted creating memories across one half of the image. Once it was dry rolling it onto my nail.
I kinda like how this turned out and I really like how holo back looks. What do you think? It totally counts as a dotticure since there is dots.
Creating memories also looks like a completely different polish because of the shades used over it, don't you think?

Friday Triad: Inspired by Juli

It's that time of the month again for Triad!!

This month was my turn to choose our inspiration and I went with this one done by @juli_addicted. It seemed simple enough until my lines seemed to straight and then too wonky and then the top coat ate my decal. So fun and games. Let me show you how this turned out.

I started with essence shade of happiness at my cuticle then Tip Top cha cha cha then Omega stormy weather and then another line of cha cha cha.
I tried to not have my lines too even and in the immense concentration of getting the lines uneven I forgot to alternate my colours! So we have a rather uniform manicure here.
Once my base was dry I added my decals and then used my smallest dotting tool to make the dots with Ulta3 black satin. I'm not sure if I should have gone with less dots or not. And then of course my top coat ate my decal!
All in all I'm kinda happy with how this turned out. What do you think? Don't forget to check out what my two partners in crime did! I'm certain Michelle and Joyce knocked this out the park! As they normally do.

#52weeknailchallenge: polka dots

This was another prompt that stumped me... I had a look at some of the Instagram photo's I had saved for inspiration and I was drawn to one and I asked BF would this do? His response was that polka dots are supposed to be uniform in size and spacing so it doesn't count. So back searching I went, until I came across this mani done by @juli_addicted
I started with three coats of I love Hean 881 on my index, middle and ring finger. I'm not a big fan of this polish as it's so sheer. On my thumb and pinky I have two coats of essence beam me up!.
I then stamped some straight lines from Lina feeling shapely 1 on my pinky with Nicole Diary white. On my index, middle and ring finger I stamped some dots from RuiZ03, also with ND white. For my middle finger I made decals. The image is from HeHe 68 and I coloured it in with beam me up!.
I think I should have added a matte top coat to this.... What do you think? I kinda like how it turned out. Even with the Hean polish being so sheer and not quite being minty enough.

#52weeknailchallenge: inspired by a photo tutorial

For this prompt, I opened Google, typed in "photo tutorial nail art", and scrolled through the images until I found one I liked. And it happened to be by Paulina's Passions. Below is the image I found, you can click here to take you to the original post.
So I'm not too sure what caught my eye on this one, but I liked it and this is my version.
Now I know Pauline is absolutely amazing and there is no way at all that I can do this any justice as she does amazing things with a nail art brush... So I cheated and used decals :P
I started with two coats of Ulta3 lily white on all my nails, top coated and waited for it to dry. I then used the stripes vinyls from Cherry Blossom Store. I then painted a coat of I love Hean black over that, removing the vinyls immediately. Once that was dry, I used my smallest dotting tool and Tip Top gold mine to make the dots, alternating the spaces on the black and white stripes. BTW any tips on getting nice clean dots? I can almost never get a uniform size or shape.
Then I cheated and added decals from alixpress... Because easy. No frustration. And I prefer the matte version. The first picture is shiny last two is matte.

What do you think? I decided on different coloured flowers as it wasn't really a valentine's day mani for me. I'll also see you guys again on Friday as we have our triad post (can't believe it's that time again), so no bday mani for this year!

Friday Triad: Inspired by...

We finally decided on a post name!! So here is the first Friday Triad of the year! It was my turn to choose, so I chose this mani done by Thea over at Madness Nails! I really hope she'll find it in herself to start blogging again one day, because I looooooove her posts. They so funny and quirky and keeps making you go back for more. I wish I had her way with words.

Anyway, so of course I started with one coat of Sinful Colors snow me white on all my nails. Then While that was drying I went one on one with a makeup sponge and tore it to pieces. Aaaand then nothing, since I had to chose the colours I was going to use and I was drawing a blank... Guess that's the downside of owning such a lot of polishes. Too spoilt for choice. BF wasn't much help as I asked him, but eventually I settled on the 5 polishes I would use.
Essence - love is in the air - yellow
Essence - beijos de brazil - green
Orly - 2hr lunch - pink
Color Club - ms socialite - purple
Sinful Colors - rise and shine - teal
Topped with Parental Advisory Polish - happy ending.
I did one colour at a time and sponged it on my nail using the pieces of sponge. Once all of that was kinda dry I used some dotting tools and snow me white to make the dots and top coated.
I wish I could have taken a better picture that shows off the flakiness of happy ending. Even with the flash it doesn't do it any justice.
What do you think? There was quite a few inspirations using this look. I was a bit meh about it, but it quickly grew on me especially with all the compliments I got!! Although it's a little awkward trying to explain to someone how to do it and people requesting to take pictures of it!!

Thanks for reading guys and I look forward to Joyce's choice for next month. Nevermind seeing what they came up with for this!

#52weeknailchallenge: dotticure

Sorry I'm a bit late today, but I'm at home since I had a little procedure done... So I'm being a bit lazy. This is actually an old mani that I never got around to sharing and I thought it would be perfect for the dotticure prompt of the 52 week nail challenge. In a way this challenge is helping with the lack of inspiration, but it is also taking all my time for not doing anything challenge related. But we shall see how it goes.I'm already dreading some of the prompts.
I started with two coats of Hean City Fashion 157.
I would take a chance and say this is a jelly looking red, but then I'm terrible at describing colours. I used four other City Fashions for the dots.
0t - white
178 - orange
171 - yellow
197 - purple
I feel that I simply suck at dotticures. The dots look so random on other mani's and mine don't. I don't know, all I know is I don't like my own dotticures.
What do you think?

Rosey-ish

I've been staring at this minty colour polish from the I love Hean Pastel collection and I was itching to use it. And when I did I was slightly disappointed, as it required 3 coats to be opaque, but this is only my laziness showing. It's a beautiful colour though.

So I started with the three coats. While that was going I used my Simply Neat mat to make the decals. I used my white Essence stampy polish and BP-73. I then randomly coloured in the roses with I love Hean 877, 874, 876 and 871, all from the Pastel Collection.
Peeled off the decal, stuck it on my nail and then, because I felt like it, dotted two flowers on my index finger.
The roses didn't quite come out the way I wanted, but it was easy and cute. What do you think?
Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome to the nub club

I've been MIA for a bit, but I'm hoping to be back to normal posting soon. I had a tear (again) and I shortened my nails, like very short, and then I had another tear and had to shorten them again... So I didn't not want to post, but I ended up doing exactly that. So I will be doing something that I don't normally do, I will be posting but not all my nails will be the same length. Which is super frustrating.

I started with two coats of I love Hean 870 from the Pastel collection. And used my Essence stampy polish in black and BP-14.
I added a random dot here and there. And that's it. Super quick and easy.
And maybe just because I didn't know what to do. So what do you guys think?
Thanks for stopping by!!

Hean nail polish: City Fashion 166 (and a peek at the Neon collection)

I hope everyone else is enjoying this cold weather as much as I am. We got a new couch about 2 weeks ago and it's much bigger than the old one, so its nice to be able to properly snuggle up with a warm body next to you.
So sometimes a nail polish comes your way that just surprises you. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way. This is one that surprised me in a good way. This is one (yes, one) coat of City Fashion 166. If you interested just click on the Glamore Cosmetics banner or the link to go directly to their shop.
I'm not a huge fan of nude polishes, but I do occasionally like wearing it. And this is already a favourite.
This is a bit of a busy mani. I think I tried too many things at the same time. But oh well. It was fun and apparently looks like a party under a UV light.
There is a mix of I love Hean 890, 891, 892 and 893 all from the Neon collection. On I middle finger I tried a needle drag, there's random dots and the stripes were a bit of a smoosh using the polishes. So it here it is looking like a party!
My colleagues thought it looked so cool under the UV light that they made me make it my WhatsApp profile pic.
What do you think? These neons are quite neon. And I love that they are UV light activated. It kinda makes them seem rather dull otherwise.

Hean nail polish: City Fashion 194

I hope everyone enjoyed their Youth Day (for my RSA readers) yesterday while I was at work... I wanted to sleep late, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. I have another stunning City Fashion for you today. There were loads of shades of red and I'm starting to wonder where my greens are at!
Anyway, this is two coats of 194. It really is a stunning polish.
I had a couple of the previous City Fashion's that I swatched on my table and while they were in arms reach I thought I'd do some flowers...
And look at that I can actually do five dot flowers! I've never tried it before, mostly because I wasn't too sure how it would turn out (read I was afraid to try it) and I didn't want to do it over and over until I got it to look the way I wanted it to look.
Rambling... So I used City Fashion 190, 178 and 169 for the flowers with a dot of 171 in the centre. I think it looks good, what do you think? I do have more City fashion swatches lined up, but then I got two stunning new collections from Glamore Cosmetics. The I Love Hean Neon collection and the Pastel collection. So I think I'll probably end up posting those before the rest of the City's.
Thanks for stopping by.
