#52weeknailchallenge: most expensive polish

The question with this prompt is how to interpret it. Do you go with literally your most monetary expensive polish or the one that means the most to you? The one with the most sentimental value.. I decided to go with the latter.

Colors by Llarowe gemini rising was one of my very first Indies and my very first holo and it's green. I don't think I'd be able to replace it if something happens to it, but let me show you what I did with it.
I started with two coats of gemini rising on my thumb, index and pinky. On my middle and ring finger I have two coats of Toy apple smoothie.
I then added some green flower water decals I got from Aliexpress.
And a flash shot to show the holo. And that's another super easy mani.
What do you think? Don't you think gemini rising is stunning?

Thanks for stopping by!

#52weeknailchallenge: Easter

I kinda forgot to post the review last week, so I'll try and post it this week, not that there's much left of this week. Tomorrow we have our Triad post.... So maybe I'll post it this week still, maybe next. I don't know.

Anyway, since it's Easter weekend naturally the prompt for this week is Easter. I started with two coats of Colors by Llarowe subtle little number on all my nails.
It has glitters in a couple of shades of pink and purple and there's even the odd yellow one. I top coated for vinyls and I used ziggy zaggy ones from becauseishop, I'm not sure what size they were, but the link will take you to them. I then painted a coat of Hean I love Hean 878 over the vinyls removing them immediately.
I then stamped the Happy Easter from BP-060 with Nicole Diary white. The bunny and carrot with the flowers are decals I got some time ago.
I top coated once all that was done and that's it. What do you think? I'm loving my vinyls at the moment. And isn't subtle little number just gorgeous?
As I mentioned tomorrow is our Triad post. And the inspiration is a stunner so don't forget to pop back and see what we did.

Friday Triad: Inspired by badgirlnails

It's Triad time and I decided to torture Joyce and Michelle. Neither of them are big on Halloween and they hate sheer polishes that show VNL, so I chose both, in one mani!

I chose this mani by @badgirlnails, I love Sonia's work. There is actually more than one of her mani's that I have on my list.

So I started with a coat of I love Hean 408 on my pinky, index and thumb. My middle finger has two coats of Catrice oyster & champagne. And my ring finger there is three coats of a sheer black polish I mixed myself.
I did a gradient with 408 and Essence black is back. For my ring finger I stamped with a black stamping polish and plate QA26. The spider is a Revlon stencil and Colours by Llarowe gemini rising.
I of course matted (is that a word?) with OPI matte and then it made white specks! Very annoyed by that. It was a bit late when I did this mani, so I do have a selfie light version.
I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I did frame my ring finger like Sonia did, but I cheated. I used a straight line stamp for the tip and a nail art pen for the cuticle end.
What do you think? I'm not too sure about my choice of textured polish and technically it wasn't my choice, it was BF's. But everyone loved the gradient and asked me to do it for them.

Don't forget to head over to Joyce and Michelle and give them some love.

Thanks for stopping by!

Acid drops

I hope everyone is doing well. I've been a bit under the weather, but not so much anymore. I decided that I'm only going to post halloween mani's for this month... Or I'm going to try at least.

So first up, I'm wearing two coats of Hean black from the I love Hean Collection on all my fingers.... And then I remembered I didn't want all my nails black and just painted a coat of Colors by Llarowe Gemini Rising on my middle finger.
For the drips I used vinyls from becauseishop. I can't remember if these are ones I ordered or if it's ones I won... Either way, go visit B's shop, she's got some cool and geeky things in her shop.
I love how this green looks over the black...
This is a shot with the flash on, just to show off that holo-y goodness. And I'm super impressed that my colleagues actually guessed my theme correctly. Monster and alien blood. Works for me.
What do you think? BF said I should have used blue instead of the green, but I don't have blue holo!! It would have been awesome!

Thanks for stopping by.

Green nails!

Heeeeeey, I'm still around!! I promise. My index finger nail betrayed me and I had to cut it loose. It joined the ranks of my treacherous thumb. LoL. I initially did this mani for my birthday back in March, but never posted it because of all the drama.
I started with two coats of Colors by Llarowe Gemini Rising. This is really one of my absolute favorite polishes. You see the arrow... That is where my nail decided to tear. I tried to rescue it, I really did. Filed them all down, but the tear was too far in and it ended up being much shorter than the rest and with it looking like a chunk was missing from my nail. Anyway...
I did a gradient with Gemini Rising and Nubar Conserve, with Conserve at my cuticle. Obviously using Simply Peel for easy cleanup. In hindsight I should have left Simply Peel on before I used acetone and my cleanup brush, because it stained a bit.
I kinda like how this turned out. Pre-tear that is. Now I'm waiting for my nail to grow a bit more. I have been doing my nails, but very simple designs or even just a plain colour and I haven't been taking pictures. It just doesn't look right... I prefer my nails to at least look the same length. So hopefully by next week.
What do you think? I wish I had more holo polishes.

Thanks for reading!

Twinsie post with Michelle: Waterfall nails aka watermelon nails

Man, it's been a crazy week. Thank goodness it's almost over...

Today I have another twinsie post with Michelle. I don't know about her but I enjoyed the previous one, so here we are again. :D We decided on waterfall nails this time round with the colour scheme of green and pink.

I also have a new Hean polish to show today. This is 3 coats of #809, from the I Love Hean collection.
You can get away with 2 coats, but I felt I needed 3. And OMG!! I love this green, it's awesome! Super shiny and dries in no time at all.

Okay, back to the post... I saw this mani done by the Nailasaurus and I wanted to do something similar. So I started with 3 coats of #809 on my thumb and pinky, 2 coats of Hean Ordinary Misfit on my middle and one coat of SC Snow me White on my ring and index. That would be the base of my gradient. For the gradient I used #809 and Ordinary Misfit.
Soooo pretty! Could have stopped here, but we chose waterfall so I had to continue. For my "waterfall" I used TT Sexy Bikini, Nubar Conserve, Colours by Llarowe Gemini Rising and obviously Hean #809 and Ordinary Misfit.
The first thing that came to mind when I was finished was, "it looks like a watermelon". And I think I got slightly carried away, because when I was done, you couldn't see the gradient. But I was having so much fun!!
For some reason, when I showed BF he thought "witch doctor"... Like huh? What? Where? He thought it was orange... Yeah, I was confused too.
So naturally, what do you think? And don't forget to pop over to Michelle to check out what she did. Aaaaand if you like #809 as much as I do, don't forget to go to Glamore Cosmetics to get it.

Birthday Nails 2015

So it's ma birthday!! I'm getting to the point where i can't remember my age anymore... Yip, it seems like I'm getting old. Hehe.

Anyway, Heather mentioned the other day that she found the polish she wants to be buried in. You can find that post here. I can officially say that I have found mine too.

It's called Gemini Rising from Colors by Llarowe.
This is one of those OMG polishes. Just look at it! It's beautiful! It's perfect! I love it!!
For this I painted 2 coats of Gemini Rising on all my fingers except my ring finger, which has 2 coats of SC Charmed. Once Charmed was dry, I used my cyclone vinyls I got from Twinkledt and painted Gemini Rising over that. I removed the vinyl immediately. Top coated and Voila!
Just look at this beaut in direct sunlight! I couldn't keep my eyes off it. WoW

I'll leave this with you and I'm off to enjoy my bday on the couch with some whatever goodies I can find in the cupboard and old seasons of Supernatural!

Competition Entries

Glamore Cosmetics had a weekly nail art competition for the past 3 weeks, the last of which ended yesterday. Each week had a theme and I managed to enter each week.

The first week's theme was SPOTS and STRIPES. I really wanted to do something different. I mean, anyone can make spots and stripes. Eventually I decided on this.

There's spots and stripes. I think it's original, right? I used a matte top coat for it, to give the impression of paper, which at the beginning it was very cool and then it started to bubble. So I bought myself a new one and I can't wait to try it out.

Week 2 was of course VALENTINE themed. I had some ideas, none of which quite went according to plan. I had to change and redo some of my nails and by the end of it I was annoyed and just wanted to give. I did submit my entry as I did put a lot of effort into it and it did have a valentine theme. Ish.

I love how my marble turned out, even if it was my second option.

The last theme was marbling. If I had known that, I would have saved the valentine (ish) mani for the marble theme. Anyway, I again wanted to do something different.

I hope this is classified as different. I don't think it's often that you see this colour combination together.

I waited until now to post these, as the competition has ended and the last winners will be announced tomorrow. Wish me luck!

And as always let me know what you think.

Llarowe winner

I haven't mentioned this on the blog before or at least not that I can remember....

But back in August last year, early one Saturday morning (before 6am, early) I got an email from a lady named Sheila telling me that I had won a $500 Visa Gift Card from Llarowe. They had this competition on their FaceBook page for getting 1 million likes. I read the rules, luckily there was some international prizes available and I took a chance.

Instead of getting the actual Visa Gift card, we opted to pay the money into my PayPal account. Which was awesome!!

Naturally I had to buy me some nail goodies!! And a lot of it. And I bought BF something too. This post is to show what I bought with the prize money. And it's in the order I received it. Obviously this took forever and a day with the postal strike that we had at that time. So some of these packages took months to eventually reach me. So obviously this post has been a draft for forever and a day too. So I'm am super stoked to finally share this!!

Firstly, the gift I bought BF. A robot from Portal.
Yea, BF is a real nerd sometimes. Although he claims he isn't.... This connects via USB to a pc and is motion sensitive. I've posted two videos to Instagram if you want to have a look. When it's activated it says some of the things the real ones do in the game.

Next I got me some Mont Bleu Crystal Glass nail files. I've been hunting for a decent glass nail file for a while and when I saw it, I think, on Lucy's Stash, I decided to take the plunge and buy it. I got two sets, one of which I gave to my mother.
Now I just need to learn how to shape my nails properly myself, because I totally suck at it.

Then I finally received the package I ordered from BPS back in August I think. Dotting tools, nail art brushes, decals, new stamping sets, stamping plates, stamping plate holders and decals. Some rhinestones and the glitter that you use for glitter placement.
If you want a close up of anything, or if you want to know what stamping plates it is, just drop me a line and I'll happily send you some shots.

Next up, is a package from Parental Advisory Polish. I ordered this back in November because there was an awesome discount going as it was Maranda's birthday. When I got this box, I for the love of me couldn't think who it was from. Imagine my excitement when I opened it! (I actually got two packages on the same day, but I opened this one first.)
I ordered fuck me boots, happy ending, dirty pickle and tiff's tush. OMG don't you just love those names! And Maranda was so kind to throw in some metallic studs and french tip guides. I love it, as I don't have any metallic studs and the tip guides are the skinny ones, which I think works better for some art than the thicker ones. Of course my mother claimed one of my happy endings (sigh).

The other package was from BPS. Some awesome decals and a nail polish bottle holder. To keep it from sliding around, which is a problem for me. I ordered two glass nail files here too, but obviously I'm sticking to my Mont Bleu ones. My mother claimed one of these ones already, even with the set I gave her.
There was also this random little packet with the package, that I (again) for the love of me don't know where it came from. In this packet was a stamping plate, decals, silver hexagon glitter, 3D flowers and loads of rhinestones. BF was like, I probably got some one else's order too. I actually think that when I placed this order BPS had a thing going that if you spent over a certain amount, you got a free gift. It's the only explanation that makes any kind of sense. Or there is actually some one out there that didn't get their BPS order.

I also ordered some polishes from Llarowe. I felt that I needed to order something from them, for the awesome prize I got.
Isn't that just to die for? I mean, I have Emily de Molly polishes!! I got some vinyls as well and I can't wait to try them out.
There is some lightning, chevron and starburst ones.

And lastly, at least I think it is the last I ordered with my prize money. I mean it took forever!! Stamping plates and decals.
And more stamping plates!!
