Friday Triad: Inspired by Sassy Shelly

It's that time of the month again for our triad post. Each month one of us picks a manicure for inspiration and this month it was Joyce's turn. She chose this mani by Sassy Shelly.

I had an idea in mind and when I started painting my nails, I just started painting and forgot that I wanted to do it differently. Fantastic right? So I just went with it. I started with two coats of piCture pOlish nebula on all my nails.
I then stamped a leafy image from BP-L001 with Nicole Diary black stamping polish. Top coated and that was it....
Oh and I added OPI matte top coat after that. Surprisingly the stamping was more obvious in my pictures than in real life. People kept saying my nails were plain!!
Can you imagine my shock and horror at people calling nebula plain???

So what do you think? I wanted to do something light and bright and then I forgot!

Friday Triad: Inspired by @didoline

It's our first Triad post of the new year and this month it was Joyce's turn to choose. We did mix it up a little, so we don't get the same months we got last year. She chose this mani, done by @didoline. I loved it, because I had so many ideas.

Now I feel that I need to mention one thing... I don't redo mani's. I do it and that's it. No retrying it in other colours, what you see is my first try. Warts and all! My initial thoughts were to use piCture pOlish escapades and starrily quantum energy, but they were to close in colour. Then I thought of using starrily bioluminesence, but it didn't have the kind of holo I wanted. I also wanted to use a creme polish, but I couldn't think of any that was the right shade. I eventually settled on PP escapades and hercynia.

I started with two coats of escapades on my thumb and index. My pinky has two coats of hercynia. On my middle and ring finger I stamped the chevron pattern from Lina feeling shapely 1 and Nicole Diary black stamping polish.
I filled in the gaps with hercynia and escapades. And here is where my hindsight kicks in again. Escapades is a bit dark for the black stamping. I wish I had a teal holo or even a blue one, one that would have suited hercynia better.
That being said and me not being able to capture the colours properly, I do like how this turned out. Even though escapades is a bit dark, it did show. And I was looking at my nails a lot.
What do you think? Both these polishes are firm favourites and I'm glad I used them. Don't forget to pop over to Joyce and Michelle and give them some love... I have a suspicion that someone may have used pink!

#52weeknailchallenge: christmas

I'm popping in quick, just to say Merry Christmas and share my christmas prompt mani for the 52 week challenge. This is the last prompt and I'm proud to say I did them all!

I had this mani pinned and because it's not the traditional christmas mani, I decided to give it a go. I started with 2 coats of piCture pOlish nebula.
I then stamped snowflakes from BP-01, m59 and BP-L016 with essence stampy polish white and revlon rock the metal.
Added a matte top coat afterwards and that's that. Which version do you prefer?
What do you think? I'm actually not even wearing this mani currently. I'm doing a wear test with gel polishes and my triad mani.
Anyway, thanks for reading and have a fab holiday! I'll check in again friday for our triad post.

Friday Triad: Inspired by Pshiiit

So we back with another Friday Triad and this time round it was Joyce's turn to choose our inspiration. So she chose this mani done by Pshiiit. Thank goodness this was a picture tutorial as it's in french!! But also thank goodness for google translate! The only trouble I had was the polishes.

I started with a coat of Essence play with my mint on all my nails. I then used Sinful Colors rise and shine, piCture pOlish escapades and Parental Advisory Polish happy ending.
I didn't use a stamper to smoosh it, as I every time I've tried it I didn't get the desired effect. Once I did all my nails I top coated for vinyls. I didn't have a lot of shimmery polishes, so I settled for happy ending to add that little extra.
I used different vinyls too from the original. The black is Essence black is back. So this was awesome. I enjoyed looking at my nails and catching a glimpse of shimmer, but nothing over the top.
What do you guys think? I can't wait to see what the other ladies have come up with and now it's time to start thinking and working on the next Triad! It's Michelle's turn to choose and I know it will be a goodie.

Thanks for stopping by!!

#52weeknailchallenge: glitter

I wanted to post this yesterday already, but BF was using the laptop... Kinda hard when we have to share. This weeks prompt is glitter. I've been wanting to use piCture pOlish's Minty for quite some time now and I thought it would be perfect for this.
This is a very pretty polish, but a little too thick for my liking. Even after using Seche Restore. So I'm sporting two coats of minty on my index, middle and ring finger. On my thumb and pinky is two coats of Essence Santa Baby. While that was drying I laid down some aztec swirl vinyls from becauseishop on my miracle mat.

Here I alternated santa baby and SC snow me white. Peeled the vinyls immediately and waited for it to dry. Then I painted a coat of Essence absolute pure over it. Waited for that to dry and then peeled it off and stuck it over minty.
I meant for the glitters of minty to be slightly more visible but that didn't quite work out.
But it does kinda look like mint swirls and that was what I was hoping for. Candy is always good right?
What do you guys think? It's not quite as glittery as I wanted and if you really wanna be specific it's not even a glitter polish, but a crelly (thanks Michelle :P)

Inspired by Joyce (read I copied her)

I'm trying to post regularly, but also trying to build up more posts, so I'm slowly getting there. I've been following Joyce from What's on my nails today? for some time now and I am so envious of her skitlettes. She makes everyting go together and make it seem super easy.

Joyce recently did a summer skitlette here. And I totally fell in love. And I had to give it a go, which it wasn't easy...
I started with two coats of Hean 274 from the Jungle Pop collection on my thumb and index. My middle and ring finger is sporting two coats of Hean 235 (Ordinary Misfit). My pinky has two coats of piCture pOlish Heavy Metal.
So I decided on a darker holo, as it's winter here by us (well technically spring) and on Ordinary Misfit instead of white. For the stamping, I used Nubar Silver Mist and HeHe 43.
I'm not sure if I did Joyce's mani any justice. What do you think? I'm a little on the fence about... And I really need a clear stamper. I can't wait for our Secret Santa to be over... Just so I can start buying things for me again.

Rosey escapades

I didn't have anything specific in mind when I started this mani. It kinda just flowed. I started with two coats of piCture pOlish Escapades on my middle finger, thumb and pinky. On my index and ring finger I have a coat of Essence Absolute Pure. I wanted a negative space look, but without a coat of polish my nails feel to thin.
The roses is from hehe 068. On my index and ring finger I stamped with Essence stampy polish in black and on my middle finger I stamped with Essence stampy polish in white. I topcoated my index and ring fingers and once it was dry used V vinyls to create the negative space.
I kinda wish that the black was a bit darker and maybe I shouldn't have stamped the white, but oh well. I liked this mani.
What do you think? I really like Escapades. It's a beautiful colour.

Hazed Desire

I wish it was weekend already. I've been feeling a bit sick this week and work has been a nightmare, so I can't wait to catch up on my sleep. And not feel like death warmed up. Anyway, today's mani can be considered a Valentine's mani because of the polish.
I've been wanting to do a matte/shiny combination and I finally got around to it. My new polishes were just standing on my table and piCture pOlish Desire and Sinful Colors Hazed were standing next to each other and they just seemed to go together so well.
So I started with two coats of Desire on all my fingers except my middle finger which is sporting three coats of Hazed. I top coated Desire and waited for it to dry, once it was dry I used some vinyls I got from We Heart Nail Art. And painted a thick coat of Hazed.
Good thing I used two purples. As you can see Desire changed the shade of Hazed slightly. I kinda like how this came out. Of course I had a different picture in mind, but I will try this combo again. Desire is such a beautiful polish and I think the name is totally Valentine appropriate. What do you think?

piCture pOlish: Nebula

And so another week is almost come to an end. I'm looking forward to the weekend, but it's almost always too short. I'm also slowly but surely working through my polishes and getting my swatches done. Mount Untried is still quite steep, but I'm not planning on swatching them all.
Today I have Nebula from piCture pOlish to show you. I got it from We Heart Nail Art, but Shann has decided to close down unfortunately.
This is two coats, without top coat. As you can see it dries slightly textured, but it's nothing a top coat won't fix.
I decided to stay with the "space" theme and stamped stars with Nubar Silver Mist from plate hehe 002. The star vinyl is also from We Heart Nail Art. I sponged on Tip Top Snow Capped and removed the vinyl immediately.
I've invested in a peel off base coat for glitters. So I don't have that pain of removing them, but I also don't wear it to often as I feel that it dries out my nails a bit. But not as much as it would have.
I'm also getting to posting my older mani's, since I got quite lazy to the end of last year. What do you think of this? I'm loving my vinyls!

piCture pOlish: Hercynia

One day closer to the weekend! Can't wait! I finally managed to get to another untried polish with this one. I'm still hoping to fit in one more Halloween mani this month, but I will show you my go to mani for short nails too. I've been having some bad luck with my nails tearing, luckily (touch wood) only my right hand. But I have been shortening my nails, so it's not so obvious. Anyway....
This is two coats of Hercynia from piCture pOlish.
This is such a beautiful colour, I love the holo and the tiny flakies that just makes this polish shine in the sun.
For the art, I used some small swirl vinyls and cyclone vinyls I got from TwinkledT. I always had this concern in the back of my mind about me using all of them and then needing to get more, but fortunately I can get them in SA now, which is awesome!
The red is Tip Top Raspberry Cream. Who is also paranoid about using their Tip Top polishes? Because when it's finished, it's gone. No more.
People rather liked this mani. Not too sure why, I mean it's not great... Guess it could be worse. What do you think?

Thanks for popping by!

piCture pOlish Fool's Gold

I've been meaning to share this for some time and I'm only getting to it now!! I can't even remember wearing it.

I started with two coats of Fool's Gold. It's sooo pretty! It's unlike any polishes I own. I want more! There was still some VNL but I was planning on adding some art, so it didn't bother me too much.
I topcoated my ring finger as I was planning on using vinyls and while I was waiting for that to dry, I started with my stamping.
I used Tip Top Gold Mine and BP-L013 for the diamonds. I used Simply Peel around my cuticles as Gold Mine is difficult to clean. Once I was finished with that I added a cyclone vinyl from TwinkledT to my ring finger and painted Gold Mine over it. I immediately removed the vinyl for crisp lines.
If you want to buy any piCture pOlishes or Moyou stamping plates or stampers just go to We Heart Nailart.
Or you can follow them on Instagram or on Facebook.
I also tried a new top coat. Glisten and Glow HK Girl top coat. I got this with my prize money from Llarowe. I wish it was easier to come by. I'd prefer this to Seche, there's no shrinkage of the polish underneath and it's fast drying too. But the shipping is crazy. So, if anyone knows of someone that knows someone that does some things, please introduce me.
