Twinsie post with Michelle: Sugar Spun Nails

Whaaaaaaat? A twinsie post? Really?

So I asked Michelle if she would like to do a twinsie post with me... I claim temporary insanity. What was I thinking? Me going up with Michelle? Oh goodness...

I wanted to do cherry blossoms (or as BF would have me say: sakura), but Michelle recently did blossoms, hence came the problem of what were we going to do. Since neither of us has ever done sugar spun nails, Michelle suggested that and then came the problem of our colour scheme... Yea, neither of us are very good at making decisions. I ended up asking BF and he suggested a purple base with gold or silver spun. Then came the problem of what shade of purple (I give up).

Anyway, I'm having an affair with Hean at the moment, so I decided to use #805 from the I love Hean collection. Once that was dry I used OPI glitter off base around my nail for easy cleanup. While I was waiting for that to dry I blobbed some Tip Top Armourplate and Goldmine on a piece of plastic to go goopy and tacky.
I was trying to go for less is more. Not sure if that worked... I wanted the two colours to come in from the sides and meet in the middle. I think I was slightly impatient and should maybe have waited longer for my polish to "dry".
I'm not sure if I like this or not... The texture was slightly annoying, but that's possibly just my special craziness. What do you think? Yes, no, maybe?

Anyway, I can't wait to see what Michelle did as we chose not to share before hand, eeeeeek. So go on over and check out what Michelle did.

Broken Tempation

Happy Holiday! I wish I could say I'm having a really nice long weekend, but I've been working the whole weekend and I'm only off next weekend and only from Saturday.

Anyway, today I have another untried Omega polish to show you. This one is #379 or Temptation.
Temptation is a vampy red polish with subtle shimmer. Two coats for opacity. Formula wise, I'm not sure, I was constantly flooding my cuticles with this one. Either it was too thin or I was just having a bad day, considering that I didn't have the same problem with Stormy Weather.
For my ring finger I made a stamping decal from plate BP-L002, using a random area on the plate. I used my black stampy polish and coloured in the blanks with Tip Top Sherbet Angel, Broken Soul and Melting Marshmellows.
Once it was dry, I just lifted it off my stamper, fitted it to my nail, topcoated and Voila!
Temptation is really a very nice colour and I will be using it again. What I'd like to do is marble with it and Stormy Weather, but only once I have an easier way to do clean up. What do you think?
I think these polishes is still available from Glamore Cosmetics, so go check it out.

Stormy weather windmills

Summer is on it's way out and I can't wait for the cooler weather. I'm not a big fan of the crazy heat we sometimes have here. Anyway, I'm loving my gradients at the moment and I have another one for today and possibly more coming your way. I mentioned in my previous gradient post that I was nursing a break, well I didn't nurse it for very long. It started tearing right on the patch again, so I decided to shorten my nails and get it over and done with. So while my left hand is out of action, I'll be using my right.

For this I pulled out one of my untried Omega Polishes. #375 or Stormy Weather is a blue toned light grey and I used it as my base. Over that I sponged a gradient with Tip Top Triple Putty and Black Forest.
Clean up was a nightmare, as usual, but like I said I'm loving my gradients at the moment. For the stamp I used the windmill image on plate BP-51 from BPS and my essence black stampy polish.
I was explaining to BF the previous night what I had in mind and he was a bit dubious, saying it won't be nice. And when I shared it with him the following day, he actually said it looks cool. So I do sometimes have good ideas.
As always let me know what you think. I really liked Stormy Weather as a base. I think you can still get these from Glamore Cosmetics. And don't forget to use my BPS store code when you order anything from them!

Hean nail polish #223: Summer Collection

I somehow managed to break my post. I had this one all typed out, just had to add the pictures and I pressed something and ALL went bye-bye... (sigh)

Anyhoo, for my birthday I got a voucher to use at Glamore Cosmetics. And since I'm terrible at making up my mind, I contacted Gael and said I want polish, but what I don't know. So she offered to choose for me.

Today I'm showing one of those polishes.
This is 3 coats of Hean #223 from the summer collection or Lethal Lemonade! Such a cool name.
Michelle also swatched this and had some art to go with it here and since I loved it so much I wanted to do something similar.
Once Lethal Lemonade was dry, I stamped using plate BP-32 and my black stampy polish on my ring and index finger. I just love the hearts! On my pinky, middle and thumb I painted two coats of Essence 101 Dalmatians effect topper.
What do you think? Did I do it justice?

Sunset Nails

I've been fiddling with this idea for a while now, I've even written it down as a possibility for some art. So that meant I HAD to do it.

Anyway, I got these super cute palm tree decals from BPS. And they the ones that made me think sunset.

I started with two coats of Essence Love is in the Air. Over that I sponged a gradient using Love is in the Air, Orange you Fabulous and Raspberry Cream, both from Tip Top. As I'm sure you can notice, clean up is going to be a bitch.
After that I added my decals and topcoated. I am super happy with this!! For once my gradient came out exactly as I had wanted it to.
I was nursing a tear on my ring finger here. And it was right on the line... I was hoping that it would grow out a bit before becoming a problem. But I had to shorten my nails. Anyway, let me know what you think.

Geometric Nail Art entry

Tip Top Nails South Africa had another nail art competition. The theme for this one was geometric. I really wanted to enter, but I had no idea where to start or what to do.

I know I wanted to have a base of blue, so I started with two coats of Tip Top Blueberry Pie.
 Blueberry Pie is a beaut!
For the geometric part, I painted Tip Top Hysteria and Armourplate on a thickish plastic sheet and when that was dry, peeled it off and cut it into random shapes. I did the same with Hean #225.
I then randomly stuck the shapes on, overlapping here and there. On my ring and pinky I stamped using plate M73 from BPS. The the top left image looked like blocks falling down, so I decided on that and stamped with Tip Top Jazzberry Blue.
I'm not too happy with the stamping, but I'm loving the rest. What do you think? I'm seriously loving Blueberry Pie and I'm already thinking of using it again.

I love Hean collection: #805

I do need to get me more Hean polishes! They've come as such a surprise. The opacity on some and the amazing shine on all of them!

This is two coats of #805 from the I love Hean collection. And don't we love Hean right now?
Need I say more? It's almost a perfect one coater and look at that SHINE! Formula is easy to work with. I wanted to use vinyls with this, but I was a little too impatient for it to dry properly. So I decided to add some silver stickers to it.
I think the silver goes beautifully with this purple. I can't wait to try some gold or even my vinyls with it! Also check out what Michelle did with it here.
