Friday Triad: Inspired by JauntyJuli

It's that time again!! Each month Michelle, Joyce and myself pick a manicure and we try and recreate it or get inspired by it... So this month it was Michelle's turn and she chose this mani done by JauntyJuli. There is also a Youtube video that you can find here. I must be honest, I love these posts. There are times that I have no clue what to do with my nails and these posts offer inspiration, even if it's only for one mani.

I played around with a couple of grays and even black to see which would go best with the polish I would be sponging on. And even that added more polishes to the table... You know what sponged polish would go best with what base. And some people think nail art is easy... (pffft) I finally settled on Essence rock my world!, two coats for opacity.
I then sponged BarryM mediterranean at cuticle end on my index and ring finger and at the tip on my middle finger. Once that was dry, I stamped a mandala image from BP-L014 with a gold stampy polish from BPS.
I loved this mani! I wish I could capture the shift of mediterranean properly, but I have no photography skills. None. Whatsoever.
What do you think? Do head over to Michelle and Joyce's little universes and see what they did.

VIP lace

I seriously need to practice my gradients... My polishes don't blend the way I would like them to. I saw this awesome mani on Facebook the other day and obviously when I went back to find it, I couldn't. I have seen it before and it was on one of the pages that share mani's all the time. So if you know it, I'd like to give credit.

I started with 1 coat of SC Snow me White on my index, middle and ring finger. On my thumb I have two coats of Tip Top Orange you Fabulous. This is also the colour I used for my gradient. Before I started with the gradient I painted Simply Peel around my cuticles, which it's so much fun peeling it off when you done and there's almost no clean up.
On my pinky I have three coats of Barry M VIP. I could have gotten away with two coats, but I felt it needed another one.
I added decals I got from BPS. I positioned them that they don't cover my full nail, but rather only a portion. On my ring finger I added loose glitter. I wanted to add dots made with VIP, but I wasn't too sure how noticable it would be. So glitter!
I like how this mani turned out. And I'm kinda glad that the decal covered most of my failed gradient... LoL any tips on how to blend it better?

Hean nail polish #277 - Jungle Pop collection

I am such a chop. I was meant to do a guest post over at Ordinary Misfit last week Thursday and I completely forgot!! Thank goodness Michelle is doing the #31DC2015. Otherwise I would have felt even worse. And I meant to do a post myself and I didn't even manage that!

Anyway, I had a different post for today, but I really wanted to show off my new stencils I got from We Heart Nailart! We've been tempted with photo's for about a month of their new vinyls and stencils and finally we got the go ahead to order! I'm not sure if they are online yet, because Shann is still busy taking pics and so forth. But I'm sure if you mail her, she'll be happy to accommodate.
Swatch first, this is 3 coats of #277. I top coated my index and ring finger and waited for that to dry so I can use my new fish scale vinyls.
When I trimmed the stencil down to fit my index finger better, there was still a bit left over and I started contemplating a bit of negative space....
So I took #277 off my middle finger, prepped it and used Barry M VIP, removing the stencil immediately. On my index and ring finger I sponged on VIP, again removing the stencil immediately.
In hindsight I think I should have used a different colour, but at least you can't notice my mistakes now.
I'm so happy we can finally get decent vinyls and stencils here in SA. And they not badly priced either, only R50 a sheet. So for the next couple of mani's I'm going crazy with vinyls! And don't forget if you love the polish to head over to Glamore Cosmetics and get one before they all gone!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Mediterranean animal

One day the lovely lady from We Heart Nailart posted a manicure on Instagram using a Barry M nail polish. Now I've seen many UK bloggers using it and I've always kinda lusted after one. I like having unique polishes that's not obtainable here in SA. So I asked if she would be bringing some of those back with her from her trip to the UK for the online store. The answer was sadly no, but she did mail me later that day and offered to bring me one back as a gift and to try it out. Man was I excited!! I literally jumped up and down in my chair.

Anyway, not only did I get one... I got two!! How freaking awesome is that?? The first one I wanna show you is Mediterranean, I believe it's from the Aqua range or something like that.
It's a beautiful duochrome, which complete dazzled me. It was like wearing a multitude of colours on my nails. It shifted between a rosey shimmer, bronze and gold. I couldn't keep my eyes off it!
I started with two coats of Mediterranean on my thumb, middle finger and pinky. On my index and ring is one coat of SC Snow me White.
I stamped with Mediterranean on my index and ring finger using BP-L006. On my middle finger I used my essence stampy polish in white.
I couldn't stop staring at this polish. It's really wow. I can't believe how lucky I was getting it. Thank you so so much Shann.
