#52weeknailchallenge: favourite hero

This year's challenges has been, in my opinion easier but also more difficult. I mean take this one for example, with all the super heroes and such that are out there, this should be a breeze, right? Wrong, firstly you need to pick one, then somehow translate it to your nails and get it right. BF said to me when he saw my nails I did the wrong hero as we were in the middle of Marvel week. And I was like pffft, who cares? (ducks incoming projectiles)

I decided to do some Batman nails, as I had water decals I got from Michelle ages ago and I thought this is the time to use them. And also I love the line where he gets asked, what is your super power and his response is; "I'm rich".

Anyway, I started with two coats of Hean City Fashion black on my thumb and index, on my middle finger I have two coats of CF white and on my ring and pinky I have three coats of CF 171.
I then added the decal, which is from LuckyStarStyle, on my middle finger. On my ring finger I used star burst vinyls I bought, also ages ago. I painted CF black over it, removing the vinyl immediately.
Once that was dry, I stamped the word "ouch" from BP 76 with nicole diary white. I wanted it to look like a speech bubble, but I wasn't brave enough to make it white and then outline it in black.
What do you think? Does this do Batman any justice? 😜 (see what I did there)

Thanks for reading!!

Friday Triad: Inspired by polishpixie

It's that time of the month again for our Triad. I sometimes forget what time of the month it is and then I get this shock realizing I have a week left and I have to do the mani now! At least I'm not as bad as Joyce though... Leaving it for the last minute... But she is known to surprise us!

Anyway, this month it was Michelle's turn to pick our inspiration and she chose this lovely mani by @polishpixie92 (there goes my choice for next month)(just kidding)(although we will do another by her again). Let me show you what I did...

Since I really liked the lightest colour she used in the stamp I decided to use it as my base... So I started with two coats of I love Hean 904. I seriously love this colour, I'm fairly certain I might need a back up!! Michelle, know of any dupes??
I then stamped from Lina twirls and swirls with Nicole Diary NS05, mundo de unas mint and dark grey. So I kinda need to learn how to blend my stamping polishes a little more, I didn't want to scrape too much and then end up with one colour.
I feel kinda meh about this, the base is pretty but I think I should have used a more negative space image than the very swirly one I did. What do you think? Don't forget to head on over to Michelle and Joyce's little spaces and give them some love!!

Thanks for reading!!

PS how pretty is the base?!

#52weeknailchallenge: scrollwork

This prompt confused me... I was like WTF is scrollwork, luckily I belong to an amazing group of nail artists and nail polish addicts and they could help me out.

I'm also very lucky to have the Lina Twirls and Swirls stamping plate. So everything just fell into place. I started with two coats of nubar conserve.
This is a stunner. I sometimes forget how pretty this one is. I should try and get me a back up, my bottle is almost half and I actually tend to use this one a lot.
I then stamped using Nicole diary white stamping polish and Mundo de Unas forest.
This was totally inspired by @urbannailart
And that's another easy mani.
What do you think? Yay or nay?

#52weeknailchallenge: childhood

This was another difficult prompt. I didn't have anything that stood out to me from my childhood that I could translate onto my nails.... Now I know childhood can be a lot of things. It can be puppies and kittens and such, but I wanted to make it about me. So I thought maybe I'd do feathers on my nails as we always had some kind of feathered creature in the house, until I was reminded that we have a feather prompt in the challenge. And I was back to square one. Then randomly one day or it could have been during one of my sleepless nights I clicked that cancers have ribbons, I can stamp ribbons and I had cancer as a baby.

I had a tumour on my adrenal gland which was found when I was little over a year. I remember being told that the tumour was so big that when they did the first operation to remove it, it kinda burst open as the pressure from the other organs and such weren't there anymore keeping it together. I went for two operations and obviously a lot of follow ups and check ups. They were initially every 3 months, then every six, then every year until I no longer went, but I still received a phone call every year checking on my health until I was 18 or 21.

Back to my nails.... I had to google the colours for the ribbons.
Courtesy of Google
As you can see gold is the colour for childhood cancer and I hope I managed to pull it off. So let me show you what I did...
I started with two coats of I love Hean 906 on my thumb and pinky. On my index and ring finger I have two coats of City Fashion white. On my middle finger I sponged on essence I love my golden pumps.
I then added a coat of Catrice goldbusters on all my nails except my middle finger. On my ring finger I double stamped the ribbon from BP26 with a gold stampy polish from BPS and nicole diary NS05. I double stamped the lines on my index finger from Lina feeling shapely 1 with the same polishes.
What do you think? In hindsight I should probably have stamped the gold ribbon over the pink one. I also feel that the gold isn't quite the focus here..

And yes, I am perfectly fine now... I just have to deal with normal adult problems and of course my allergies that just won't leave me. Something that I did learn is that due to the chemotherapy I received as a baby I am immunocompromised, and therefor cannot donate blood. Little ironic that I work in a doctors office and I rarely get sick.

As always thank you for reading!!

#52weeknailchallenge: gold + green

I just realised that I have two green mani's in a row and it was not intentional. Just like my pen at work being green and I did not plan it that way.

I started with two coats of Tip Top we have an agreenmint on my thumb and pinky. On my index and middle finger I have two coats of TT it's lime time. On my ring finger I sponged on TT indulgence.
I used water decals from Maskscara, which I coloured in the paisley design. The purple is I love Hean 878 and the blue 879, the white is Sinful Colors snow me white.
I used my clear stamper to place the decals... I've found this to be an easier way to place full nail decals as the chances for wrinkles are reduced. Flash shot to show of the shiny in the decal.
What do you think? I must say I'm very impressed with these decals, they are stronger than some I have worked with and doesn't seem to melt away when using my top coat.

#52weeknailchallenge: most expensive polish

The question with this prompt is how to interpret it. Do you go with literally your most monetary expensive polish or the one that means the most to you? The one with the most sentimental value.. I decided to go with the latter.

Colors by Llarowe gemini rising was one of my very first Indies and my very first holo and it's green. I don't think I'd be able to replace it if something happens to it, but let me show you what I did with it.
I started with two coats of gemini rising on my thumb, index and pinky. On my middle and ring finger I have two coats of Toy apple smoothie.
I then added some green flower water decals I got from Aliexpress.
And a flash shot to show the holo. And that's another super easy mani.
What do you think? Don't you think gemini rising is stunning?
