#52weeknailchallenge: mermaids

My post is a little late this week, but only because I kept putting it off. I wasn't feeling very productive this week.

I had very high hopes for this prompt, I was going to double stamp some scales and then I found that the image I had was too small. It would have fitted my pinky, but barely. So I had to change what I wanted to do and came up with this instead.

I started with two coats of Hean 278 on my thumb and pinky, the rest is sporting three coats of Hean 277, both polishes from the Jungle pop collection. I then added a coat of Sinful Colors green ocean over that.
For the mermaid I used a unda da sea vinyl from becauseishop on my mat. I painted a coat of Hean 281, also from the Jungle pop collection, over the vinyl and a coat of black polish over it to make it pop as 281 is very sheer. Removed the vinyl immediately and waited for it to dry. Once it was dry I peeled it off and stuck it to my nail.
For the scales I used vinyls I got from Weheartnailart before they shut down. Stuck them to my nail and sponged on Ulta3 lily white, once that was semi dry I sponged 281 over that.
I kinda like how it all turned out... I'm a little bummed that I couldn't stamp the scales though and I can't believe that I don't have a proper mermaid stamping plate. What do you think?

Friday Triad: Inspired by @didoline

It's our first Triad post of the new year and this month it was Joyce's turn to choose. We did mix it up a little, so we don't get the same months we got last year. She chose this mani, done by @didoline. I loved it, because I had so many ideas.

Now I feel that I need to mention one thing... I don't redo mani's. I do it and that's it. No retrying it in other colours, what you see is my first try. Warts and all! My initial thoughts were to use piCture pOlish escapades and starrily quantum energy, but they were to close in colour. Then I thought of using starrily bioluminesence, but it didn't have the kind of holo I wanted. I also wanted to use a creme polish, but I couldn't think of any that was the right shade. I eventually settled on PP escapades and hercynia.

I started with two coats of escapades on my thumb and index. My pinky has two coats of hercynia. On my middle and ring finger I stamped the chevron pattern from Lina feeling shapely 1 and Nicole Diary black stamping polish.
I filled in the gaps with hercynia and escapades. And here is where my hindsight kicks in again. Escapades is a bit dark for the black stamping. I wish I had a teal holo or even a blue one, one that would have suited hercynia better.
That being said and me not being able to capture the colours properly, I do like how this turned out. Even though escapades is a bit dark, it did show. And I was looking at my nails a lot.
What do you think? Both these polishes are firm favourites and I'm glad I used them. Don't forget to pop over to Joyce and Michelle and give them some love... I have a suspicion that someone may have used pink!

#52weeknailchallenge: unused polish

We at week three already of this years challenge and I may be making head way. This is one of the mani's I have done using my Secret Santa goodies. I've been looking ahead and I'm torn between using this for untried or holo... But I do have another mani that will go with holo too, so here you go.

I started with two coats of KB Shimmer rollin' with the chrommies on my thumb, index and pinky. On my middle and ring finger I have two coats of I love Hean black.
I stamped an image from BP-L027 with rimmel rock the metal on my ring finger.
Top coated and that was it... I tried to capture the shift and holo of rollin' with the chrommies, but I failed. Miserably. I have a flash pic to showcase the holo and you can see some of the shift around the edges of my nails.
I do like how this turned out. I kept looking at my nails admiring the shift. And the holo.
What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!!

#52weeknailchallenge: watermarble

I haven't had chance yet to get ahead with the challenge, so today's post is a little late. We are at the hated watermarble prompt and I almost want to say it's the one that excited everyone the most!

I've always wanted to do a black and neon green marble and I did once, but it wasn't what I wanted... So I decided to try again and I sucked. I decided to then go the easy route and stamp. I started with two coats of I love Hean black on my thumb and index. On my index, middle and ring finger I have three coats of I love Hean 809.
I then stamped with Lina make your mark 3 and Nicole Diary black polish.
Topcoated and something was missing... So I decided to add a coat of tip top galaxy.
And a flash shot to show off the holo.
So what do you think? I got a few compliments on this one. And I kinda like it too.

#52weeknailchallenge: pink & purple

Here we are at the beginning of a New Year and this is normally where something profound would be said, but I have nothing... It's just another year with resolutions being made and almost instantly being broken. I did see something that stuck with me though.
Anyway, besides the beginning of a New Year, it's also the start of a fresh 52 week challenge. @polish_portfolio did this years one through a group effort and hopefully there will be more people joining in this year. There's some new and combined prompts, some ones that have me thinking WTF?! and ones I look forward to.
Jumping straight in we start with pink and purple. I really need to start noting which white polishes I use! I have two coats of some random white polish on my middle and ring finger and I didn't note which one. On my pinky I have two coats of Hean 280 from the jungle pop collection. My thumb and index two coats of Starrily gamma ray.
First up, I have to note the difference in concentration of holo in the two polishes. Compared to gamma ray, it doesn't even look like 280 is holo at all. The flowers I stamped with my essence black stampy polish and coloured it in with the two holo's.
Flash shot to show off the holo and sadly again notice the difference between the two.
What do you think? Once I finished the mani, there wasn't much of a difference between the two polishes, but I was done with it and it was pink and purple, so....
Thanks for reading and thanks for sticking with me!
