Freaky things and Nail Art Competition

My goodness, it feels like this is way overdue. I was planning on doing a post last weekend for my mani that I did with Tip Top black forest and glow in the dark decals I got from BPS. I also did some dots with Essence glow in the dark top coat, but alas, BF went and bought Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.

Does that not make you want to play it? This is the reason why there was no post last weekend, my plan was to do the post Sunday, instead we ended up playing the whole day. Eventually started to realise it was getting late when we had to put the light on.

Let me share the mani with you (I did share it on my Facebook page)....

I actually got a "nice" from BF, never before have I gotten that! His only problem was that the stars are all sharp edges and the dots are round edges and it doesn't go... And I was like whatever. Anyhoo, what do you guys think? Let me know ;)
On to the reason for todays post. Tip Top Nails South Africa has a nail art competition at the moment, which ends tomorrow. You have to get a man in your life to choose 3 colours and do an accent nail with those colours. And take a beautiful picture. So obviously I asked BF and he gave some colours, some ideas, changed his mind, changed his mind again and then he had me google some things... Like this very creepy Green bottle blue tarantula.

Suuuuure, to certain people it might be pretty, but not this people. Ugh not a big fan of big blue and orange spiders, imagine finding that in your house! Besides this little wonder he had me look for a vampire squid, by this point I was starting to think WTF??

Little creepy right? And lastly he had me look for this...

Now this I can live with. Its so bright and pretty :) This is a poison dart frog, one of many. Theres even one named after a strawberry.

So finally I have my 3 colours and a workable idea. I used sunkissed, black forest and jazzberry blue. I have another yellow, not too sure what the name is right now, but I settled for sunkissed as it also has a shimmer like jazzberry blue.

And as you can see my top coat smeared my spots :( I hate it when that happens. I was very tempted to redo it, but I thought screw it. In retrospect I should probably have waited a little longer before I top coated. Too late now.

The other part of the competion was to take a pretty picture with the art, so this is my picture that I submitted to the competition.

What do you think? BF said to me it turned out better than what he thought. Probably because of what he had in mind...
Let me know what you think or like my Facebook page Sarcastic by Nature.

Lazy Lizard's Tango with a Mango

Got something new for today. It didn't quite come out the way I had pictured it, but it's not too bad. I used some decals I got from BPS and striping tape I got from Ordinary Misfit. All the products I used is from Tip Top Nails South Africa. Except my topcoat which is a Yardley treatment.

I started with my normal base coat of MR (Miraculous Results), Then with 2 coats of Lazy Lizard on my thumb, index, middle and pinky. For my ring finger I did 2 coats of Mango Tango. Both these polishes have a pretty shimmer to them, Lazy Lizard seems to dry slightly matte but it's still an awesome colour. As green is my favourite!! Here is it before any art...
It's not very obvious in the picture, but you can see the difference between the shine in the 2 colours.
And here it is with the art :)

I posted on Facebook if I should do stripes or dots for my mani, it was 50/50. So I just decided to do both.

What do you guys think? Any tips or ideas that you would like to share? Drop me a line :)

Round n round we go

Soooo, finally I managed to get to my nail art. Man it took forever. As I mentioned in my previous post, I got some cute decals from BPS. I used Miraculous Results from Tip Top Nails South Africa as my base coat. On my pinky, ring finger and thumb I used TT's Beach Babe. It is a very pretty light blue. On my middle finger I used TT's Sherbet Angel, a dark pink. For my index finger I did one coat of Perfect Look, also from TT. It's a creamy white and not very opaque. Just enough to use as a base coat to make your colours pop.
As you can see I tried a gradient on my index, the reason for the white coat. I clearly need more practice. And I need to try and keep my sponge away from dust, easier said than done though.
Let me show you the full mani....
I waited for my colours to dry and then I added the decals. Cute aren't they? After they dried I top coated.
What do you think? Please let me know. And if you have any ideas for me to try.

This will be my last mani with long nails for a while. I'm planning on shortening my nails, just so I can start growing them nice and strong again. But it won't be my last. I'm waiting for some nail studs that I'm excited about. And new stamping plates. Woohoo!

SUPER EXCITED!

WOW what a manic day! I've been attempting to start today's post since this morning already, but have only been able to do it now (now being late afternoon). On a normal day we are 11 staff members, but we are short staffed, so now for the time being we are 9. BUT today we were a whopping 6! Trying to handle the patients and diaries of 12 dr's. Fun times I tell you.

Anyway, that is not the reason why I'm super excited. I'm excited because yesterday I got my very first order from the Born Pretty Store. This is what I got...

These  decals are super cute. I can't wait to try it out... But I will just have to be patient, I'm working this weekend and the only time I will probably get to do a mani this weekend is on Sunday

But this is not all.... Obviously there is more!

Aren't these just gorgeous? Just a note: It's not my mani. It's the best picture I could find of the decals I chose.

What do you guys think? Have any ideas for some awesome mani's? Please share with me, always willing to try something new.

P.S. I also got this little guy.....
Should I wear him in my mani photo's? Let me know what you think!
