#52weeknailchallenge: grey + blue

Looking forward at the challenge I realised that someone really likes blue, as blue is in three of the prompts. Starting with this, grey and blue. Luckily it's two colours that go rather well together.

I started with two coats of Hean City Fashion 169 on my thumb and two coats of CF 172 on my pinky. The rest of my nails has a coat of Ulta3 lily white. I didn't bother with it being too opaque as I was planning on a gradient. My lily white is almost finished, does anyone have any tips on how to get that last bit of polish from the bottle?? I hate wasting and knowing there's still polish in kinda annoys me.
I did the gradient on my index, middle and ring fingers using CF 169 and 172. I painted the polishes at an angle on the sponge hoping for a angle gradient? I don't even know what that is.... Anyway, just a quick look at the gradient before I went crazy on it.
Once my gradient was dry I added a coat of Hean Stardust 265. It has small and large hexagonal glitters in black and blue. I really like how it looked on the gradient. I then stamped an image from BP-017 with Nicole Diary black stamping polish. I wanted to use this image for so looooooong and now I finally did.
Once that was done I added a dot of essence crack is back in the centre of all the flowers, top coated and that's it.
What do you think? I think I should have left the stamping off, but I had my heart set on using this image. Or maybe the stamping without the glitter topper? Is there a rule of thumb as to when to use glitter topper's?

Friday Triad: Inspired by Paulina

It is that time of the month again, where Michelle, Joyce and I post our Triad posts. Once a month we chose a mani to be inspired by and try our best. This month was Michelle's turn and she chose this mani done by @paulinaspassions

Now when I saw this, I was kinda excited as I recently got my first Moyou stamping plates and a trend hunter plate being one of them. So my plan is to totally nail this!!

I started with two coats of Ulta3 radiant orchid on my thumb, index and pinky. On my middle and ring finger I started with one coat of  Hean City Fashion white. I didn't bother with it being too opaque as I was going to do a gradient over it. For the gradient I used CF white and Tip Top fairy dust.
For the image on my middle finger I stamped from moyou trend hunter 2 with Nicole Diary black stamping polish. Left it on my stamper and coloured in the flower with radiant orchid, once it was dry it stamped it to my nail and top coated.
On my ring finger I stamped an image from Lina feeling shapely 1, to match the lines from the other image. I top coated and then my top coat decided to eat my lines.
I was told this looks very Beetlejuice... And then I couldn't unsee it. Guess I should have used green!
What do you think? As always don't forget to pop over to Michelle and Joyce and give them some love.

#52weeknailchallenge: Valentine's day

I know I said that I didn't do anything for this prompt in my previous post, but I decided to share what I was wearing. I think red holo does count.
This is two coats of Hean I love Hean 424 and a holo top coat.
I was planning on only wearing 424, but I wanted some sparkle. So I added one coat of Starrily eclipse.
Flash shot for the holo and I think I should mention these pics were taking with three days of wear. Even now almost a week later, I'm impressed with the lack of tip wear (except for Cindy) and it still shines.
So what do you think?

#52weeknailchallenge: leaves

Heeeeey so my post for leaves is a little (read a week) late, but I have a reason other than laziness this time. BF's father has been ill and has subsequently passed away, so it's been a stressful time. I was hoping to do my Valentine's day mani on Friday, but the funeral was on Friday, so no nails. And I feel like it would be cheating doing it now. I did wear red polish with a holo top coat if that counts?

Back to leaves, I started with two coats of Hean City Fashion 193 on my pinky and thumb, the rest of my nails has two coats of CF white. I then placed some falling pines vinyls from becauseishop on my mat, painted a line of Tip Top liquid envy, TT mango tango and CF 193 across the vinyl and used a fan brush to blend (look at me sounding all fancy) the polishes.
I then removed the vinyl and painted a coat of clear polish over the design and waited for it to dry. I then peeled it off my mat and used my stamper to place it. This was more autumny than I intended, but people at least got what it was. Except BF, he asked why do I have KOI on my fingers...

Just in case you needed to know what koi looks like.
So I don't think my leaves look like fish, but I kinda see it. I guess. If anything I was hoping for more green to show through, but there is a hint here and there.
What do you think? I initially thought the falling pines was more tree-ish but it definitely doubles as leaves. So is this leafy enough?

Thanks for stopping by.

#52weeknailchallenge: holographic

Ah the mandatory holo prompt. I don't think any challenge is complete without having holo as a prompt and I'm happy to say that my amount of holo polishes has grown. Not by much, but it has. Now I'm dreaming of a stunning red holo (nudge nudge wink wink)

I saw this mani and I love the negative space look with the crystals and I wanted to do something similar. Now it doesn't quite work, but pretty polishes make everything better. Unless it really sucks.

I started with two coats of Morgan Taylor under the stars. And man is this a pretty polish! My only gripe is that even with a nice thick coat of seche, it still wasn't smooth. On my ring finger I have two coats of base coat.
I used an image from BP-L060 and stamped it with Revlon rock the metal. I then coloured it in with KB Shimmer rollin' with the chrommies. The etching on this plate is very shallow and I'm not the only one to have noticed that... Once my decal was slightly dry I stamped it directly to my nail.
I'm thinking I should rather have used a clear base coat or even a different polish to colour in the gems, but oh well.
What do you think? Are you going to join the challenge at all?
